West versus East
For twenty days in the summer of 1973, I lived with an American family in Yalova, Turkey on the Sea of Marmara. The experience was unforgettable and one that I wish all young people from the West could have. It made me appreciate the profound differences in our religion, culture, and opportunities.
In 1977, before I left Germany, I toured Israel with a group to see the Christian sites. Our tour guide, a veteran of the Six-Day (1967) and Yom Kippur (1973) wars, shared some of those sites with us as well. It grieves me greatly but does not surprise me to see the reoccurrence of those hostilities.
The article attached speaks to those Western versus Eastern differences.
